In the fall of 2026, Surrey schools will take a two-week half-term break after a council decision.Due to a move made by Surrey County Council (SCC), the summer vacation will be shortened by five days and the October half-term will be prolonged by one week.3,775 people answered a public opinion survey that was conducted starting in December 2024.According to SCC Cabinet Member for Children, Families, and Lifelong Learning Clare Curran, “there is a clear appetite” for the new approach based on the findings of recent public consultation exercises with communities and schools.

📢 Two-Week Autumn Half-Term Introduced for 2026/27

  • New Term Structure: Community and voluntary controlled schools will adopt a two-week autumn half-term starting in the 2026/27 academic year.
