World University Rankings 2025: Top global universities

This year’s index, which includes more than 1,500 universities from 105 higher education systems, is the biggest yet. Among the rated institutions, the United States has the greatest representation (197), followed by mainland China (71), the United Kingdom (90), and the United States.For the thirteenth year in a row, Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) continues to hold the top spot. Third and fourth rank go to Harvard University and the University of Oxford, while Imperial College London leaps four spots to claim second. Cambridge University completes the top five.

🧠 Quick Insights:
