Fee Payment & Freeze or Float Your Seat
If allotted a seat, you must:
Pay the seat confirmation fee:
₹20,000 for General/OBC
₹12,000 for SC/ST
Submit your willingness option by August 1, 2025:
Freeze: Confirm the seat and exit further rounds.
Float: Accept this seat but remain eligible for upgrades in future rounds.
Failure to pay the fee or submit willingness will lead to seat cancellation and exclusion from Round 2 onwards
Freeze vs Float – Which Should You Choose?
Freeze: Choose this when you are happy with the seat allotted and don’t want to risk it in future rounds. Your admission is confirmed, and you’re out of further allocations.
Float: Ideal if you’re hoping for a better branch or college. You’ll stay in the allocation pool while securing your current allotment as a backup .
What Happens Next?
Round 2 (August 2–3, 2025): Candidates can add or alter their choices. Allotment results will be declared on August 5.
Subsequent Rounds: Up to Round 4, followed by an internal sliding round (R5), and two special rounds depending on seat availability.
FAQ: What If…
I don’t get any seat in Round 1?
You can participate in Round 2 by editing or adding new choices during August 2–3.
What if I pay the fee but don’t submit willingness?
Your seat may still be forfeited. Submission of both fee and willingness is required for confirmation.
Can I withdraw later for a refund?
Yes — withdrawal is allowed in Rounds 2–4. Refunds (₹15,000 of the ₹20,000) are processed if valid withdrawal is done before the deadline
Are there more rounds after Round 4?
Yes — Round 5 is internal sliding and then there are special rounds (6, 7 etc.) based on vacancies.
Is participation limited to JEE Main candidates?
Round 1 is strictly for JEE Main candidates. Other categories or streams may follow separate allotment windows.
Community Insight: Late Counselling Advantages
While not directly about Round 1, some students on forums suggest late counselling can drive cutoffs down due to fewer candidates actively holding seats:
“Cutoffs neeche jayegi … late counselling karwane se jo bacche genuine honge wahi aayenge”
