It demonstrated that sudden, unexplained fatalities among young, healthy people were not caused by the COVID vaccine. The study was carried out in 2023 in response to anecdotal accounts of unexpected, inexplicable deaths in young individuals in India who appeared to be in good health and were connected to either immunization or Covid-19 infection. “The risk of unexplained sudden mortality among young adults in India was not increased by the COVID-19 immunization. According to the researchers, the risk of unexplained sudden death was raised by prior Covid-19 hospitalization, a family history of sudden death, and specific lifestyle choices. The researchers included 2,916 controls and 729 cases from 47 tertiary care hospitals in India using a multicentric matched case-control approach.

The instances involved seemingly healthy people between the ages of 18 and 45 who had no known co-morbidities. They died of unknown causes between October 2021 and March 2023, despite appearing healthy just 24 hours before they passed away. Each case had four controls that were matched for neighborhood, gender, and age. Data on Covid vaccination or infection and post-Covid conditions, family history of sudden death, smoking, recreational drug use, frequency of alcohol use and binge drinking, and vigorous-intensity physical activity two days prior to death or interviews were gathered by the team through interviews and records reviews. “The results showed that receiving at least one dose of Covid-19 vaccine lowered the odds for unexplained sudden death,” according to the investigators. Additionally, two doses reduced the likelihood of unexpected, unexplained mortality.
On the other hand, “past Covid-19 hospitalisation, family history of sudden death, binge drinking 48 hours before death, use of recreational drug or substance and performing vigorous-intensity physical activity 48 hours before death were positively associated”, the team added.
