What Happened & Why

  • The Institute of Chartered Accountants of India (ICAI) had scheduled CA Final & Intermediate exams for September 2025 in various centres, including Kathmandu, Nepal.

  • However, due to political unrest and widespread protests in Nepal (often referred to in reports as the “Gen-Z protests”), which followed a government ban on multiple social media platforms, the ICAI decided to postpone the CA exams in Kathmandu originally slated for September 9 to 15

  • Following this, on 19 September 2025, ICAI officially released a revised schedule for the postponed Intermediate & Final CA exams for candidates in Kathmandu.

What the Revised Datesheet Says

Here are the new dates & details for the postponed CA Intermediate and Final papers in Kathmandu, Nepal as per the ICAI notification:

Key Other Details (What Remains the Same)

  • Exam venue remains unchanged: D.A.V. Sushil Kedia Vishwa Bharati Higher Secondary School, Jawalakhel, Lalitpur, Kathmandu, Nepal

  • Timings are also mostly the same: 2:00 PM to 5:00 PM (IST) for all papers, except for Final Paper-6 (Integrated Business Solutions) which will run from 2:00 PM to 6:00 PM (IST)

  • Admit cards that were already issued for these papers remain valid for the new dates. Students do not need to get fresh hall tickets.

  • ICAI has clarified that even if any of the new rescheduled dates fall on a public, state, or local holiday, the schedule will not be changed further.

What Candidates Should Do

If you are one of the affected candidates in Kathmandu, here are your next steps:

  1. Mark the new dates in your calendar to avoid any confusion or missed exams.

  2. Check your admit card and ensure you carry it on the rescheduled day—since it’s valid. Also carry any required ID proofs.

  3. Stay updated via the ICAI official website (www.icai.org) in case of any further announcements or clarifications.

  4. Adjust preparation plan since you have more time now before the exams. Use the extended time to revise weak topics, especially in Final & Intermediate papers.

  5. Confirm transport, lodging, logistics, since the exam centre is the same, but timing adjustments may affect your schedule.

Implications & What It Means

  • The postpone-and-reschedule reflects ICAI’s responsiveness to ground realities: safety and the ability of candidates to reach centres during unrest.

  • The stable venue and valid admit cards help reduce administrative burden on students. No need to reapply or get new cards.

  • Extra time may be both benefit and challenge: benefit because of more revision; challenge in keeping exam readiness consistent.

Caveats & What to Watch For

  • While ICAI has said the schedule won’t change if a holiday happens, always double-check local and central government notifications. Sometimes local holidays can create confusion at the centre.

  • Although only the Kathmandu centre is affected, if you are in other centres, ensure you continue your exam schedule as per the original timetable. ICAI has confirmed that other exam centres remain unaffected

  • Keep track of your roll number, admit card number, and paper group (Intermediate / Final, Group I or II) to ensure you appear for the right paper on the right date.

  • Be alert for any last-minute changes (e.g., in case unrest escalates again) via official ICAI notifications.

Final Thoughts

The release of the revised schedule by ICAI for CA Final and Intermediate exams in Kathmandu, Nepal, offers clarity to candidates who saw their exam dates postponed due to the protests. With the new dates slated between 5-11 October 2025, students now have time to recalibrate their preparation. Key positives are that admit cards are still valid, exam venue and timings remain largely unchanged.
