Eligibility Criteria
To qualify for this scholarship, applicants must satisfy several criteria across academics, financial background, and institutional affiliation. Here are the key points:
Academic Performance:
Minimum 75% marks or 7.0 CGPA in the previous academic year. For SC/ST category students, some relaxation is allowed: requirement around 67.50% or 6.3 CGPA.
Income Limit:
For school-level students (Class 9-12): family income must be ₹3,00,000 or less per annum.
For college / undergraduate / postgraduate students: family income must be ₹6,00,000 or less per annum.
Course Levels / Who Can Apply:
Students studying in Class 9 to 12 in schools.
Students doing undergraduate (UG) and postgraduate (PG) studies, including professional courses (medical etc.).
Students in premier academic institutions: NIRF top-300 colleges / universities, or colleges with NAAC A-rating; also students in IITs, IIMs are eligible.
Students wishing to study abroad in top ranking institutions (e.g. QS / THE top rankings) for PG or higher studies are included under “Overseas Students” category.
Other Requirements:
Applicant must be an Indian citizen.
Must have relevant documents: mark sheets, income certificate etc. (see “Documents Required” below).
Scholarship Amount
The scholarship amount depends on the level of study and institution. It ranges from a few thousand rupees to very high amounts for overseas or professional education. Here are approximate amounts by category:

Application Process

Click on “Apply Now” or “Start Application” for the Platinum Jubilee Asha Scholarship 2025-26.
Fill in the online application form with personal, academic, and financial details.
Upload required documents:
Academic mark sheet of the previous year
Proof of income (for parents/guardians)
Identity proof (Aadhaar / other valid ID)
Institution proof / admission proof etc.
Review all entered information before submission (“Preview” option). Make sure everything is correct.
Submit the application. A confirmation or reference number is usually provided. Save it for tracking status.
Selection Process
Selection will be merit-based with financial considerations. Key steps include:
Shortlisting: After applications close, SBI will shortlist students based on the academic merit (marks/CGPA) and financial eligibility (income criteria).
Verification: Document verification process for shortlisted candidates (income proof, mark sheets, etc.).
Interview / Telephonic Interaction: In some cases, candidates may be interviewed or have a telephonic interaction to verify intent, aspirations etc.
Final Selection: Based on merit, verification and performance in any interview, the final list of beneficiaries will be announced. The scholarship amounts will be disbursed accordingly.
Key Points to Note
The scholarship is non-repayable — you don’t have to return this funding.
If you are already studying in a recognized institution (especially in IIT / IIM / medical / abroad), ensure your institution meets the ranking / accreditation criteria specified.
SC/ST candidates get some relaxation in minimum marks criteria.
You do not need an SBI bank account necessarily for receiving the scholarship amount — any valid bank account can be furnished.
